Highlands Contracting was founded by Troy Sage to satisfy the demand for high quality built log homes in the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains of southwestern Virginia. A small hometown company based in Grayson County, Highlands Contracting is both licensed and insured.
Country Road Log Homes
As a certified dealer for Country Road Log Homes, innovative technology, intelligence, and high quality materials combine to create our rustic log homes. Only the best wood species are used, namely Eastern White Pine. Eastern White Pine is considered a superior insulator compared to Yellow Pine, Walnut, or Oak. In addition it features a straight grain which minimizes twisting and shrinkage.
As for the actual logs, our logs are cut at 8"X12" which is a full 100% larger than the standard 6X8. Many of Country Roads building methods are patented, such as the Four-way InterLock Corner design and Adjust-A-Bolt System. Finally, the "R" Value (insulating factor) of our homes is typically 20% higher than a conventional stick-home construction.
